LU Organic Carbon
Revolutionizing anode materials for high performance batteries
Our Mission
At LU Organic Carbon, we are at the forefront of battery research, driven by a commitment to delivering safer, more reliable energy solutions. Leveraging the cutting-edge advancements from Lancaster University, our team focuses on pioneering a family of carbon electrode materials known as OSPCs (Organically Synthesized Porous Carbons). Our mission? To transform the landscape of battery technology, starting with the demands of high-performance applications.
A drop-in replacement for Graphite
Twice the performance for a comparable cost
Safety and Reliability
Traditional lithium-ion batteries face challenges with fast charging and deep discharging, often leading to hazardous lithium metal deposits and compromised safety. Our materials mitigate these risks, ensuring safer operations even in the most demanding conditions.
Sustainable Supply Chain
Our OSPCs are entirely synthetic and are made in one step from commercially available materials. This ensures supply chain independence and freedom from geographic restrictions, as well as eliminating the environmental impact of graphite mining.
Enhanced Capacity
With our electrodes, battery cells can offer up to twice the capacity of conventional electrodes. No signs of capacity fade or structural degradation mean longer-lasting, more reliable power for your critical applications.
A DROP IN ALTERNATIVE
Our material is a black powder made from a one-pot process with a straightforward scale up. Unlike other candidate materials it is chemically and physically stable, enabling a seamless integration into existing manufacturing lines.
Overcoming Challenges
While our technology holds immense promise, we acknowledge the challenges of scaling up from laboratory success to commercial viability. Currently in the prototype stages of development, our focus is on demonstrating concrete demand from customers. By showcasing the compelling properties of our materials and garnering support from strategic partners, we aim to access the necessary resources and expertise to advance to the next phase of testing.
We work with a wide variety of industries & users
At LU Organic Carbon, our groundbreaking battery technology could be integrated in to almost Li-Ion cell. We’re committed to revolutionizing energy storage across various sectors, offering tailored solutions to meet diverse needs.
Aerospace and Satellite Technology
Our OSPCs have the resilience to withstand the extreme conditions of space, making them essential for powering satellites and spacecraft. With their unparalleled durability and capacity, our batteries ensure uninterrupted operations, vital for communication, navigation, and observation satellites.
Renewable Energy Storage
In the renewable energy sector, reliable battery storage is crucial for harnessing power from intermittent sources like solar and wind. Our OSPCs provide a sustainable solution, offering high capacity and rapid charging capabilities. By storing excess energy efficiently, our batteries facilitate grid stability and promote the transition to clean energy.
Electric Vehicles (EVs)
Our OSPCs offer EV manufacturers a competitive edge with their superior energy density and longevity. By extending driving range and reducing charging times, our batteries accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, contributing to a greener transportation ecosystem.
Consumer Electronics
From smartphones to laptops, consumers demand devices with longer battery life and faster charging capabilities. Our OSPCs meet these expectations, providing electronics manufacturers with a game-changing solution. With reduced weight and enhanced reliability, our batteries enhance the user experience while minimizing environmental impact.
Medical Electronics
High-end medical devices, such as pacemakers, drug pumps, and portable defibrillators need long lasting cells that won’t let you down in a crisis and put safety above all else. Our OSPCs utilize intrinsically safe chemistry to deliver the performance that patients and doctors expect and demand from next generation technology.
